This word belongs to class 5, hence the prefix ili-. Its plural is class 6: amatye.

The problem with these languages is that they do most functions with prefixes rather than endings. In many (but noy all) dictionaries, this word would be alphabetized under t(ye), not under i(litye). Reason is that often there are more than 2 (singular and plural) versions. E.g. -ntu has umntu (class 1), abantu (2), ubuntu (14) even uluntu (11) (person, persons, humanitarianism and culture). An recent addition is isintu(7) for bantu-language (and izintu(8) its plural). At nl.wikti we have chosen to make the main article name -ntu, rather than umntu.
