From Semitic, compare Hebrew גְּלוֹם (glōm, wrap, mantle, cloak), Late Babylonian 𒌆𒄖𒇷𒉡 (TUG2.gu-li-nu /⁠gulīnu, gulēnu, gulānu⁠/, over-cloak, coat) likely a West-Semitic loan, Aramaic גְלִימָא (glīmā, wrap, mantle, cloak), whence also χλᾰνῐ́ς (khlanís, upper-garment of wool), χλαῖνᾰ (khlaîna, upper-garment, cloak, wrapper); innovating the δ-stem.
