Chichiltototl

Салют, Schwallex! :) I have changed the translation in chichiltototl because the Nahuatl word refers to an American bird, not to the European robin redbreast. The confusion comes from the fact that in Mexico one of the names of the bird is "petirrojo" (снегирь) when speaking in Spanish. As the bird is red they just kept on using the Spanish name of the European bird because it sounded suitable. That's why it can be translated into Spanish as "petirrojo" but not as "снегирь" into Russian. In English is the "vermilion flycatcher" and I have found the name in Russian to commonly be "красный тиранн". ¡Hasta luego! :) --Piolinfax 10:14, 3 августа 2006 (UTC)

Hi and thanks a lot for the clarification! I've just dug up an image of the bird so there shouldn't be any further confusion.

Re: probable mistakes, the only minor one was using “американка” (“American woman”, noun) instead of “американская” (“American”, female adjective). The rest is perfectly fine.

BTW, while we're at it: do you happen to know what the (European) robin is called in Nahuatl?

Спасибо, Schwallex. :) I made a little but important change: scientific binomial names always have the genus name (first word) with an initial capital letter while the species name (the second one) goes in lesser case. As well, this names always appear in italics. That is the standard. I should have known about американка/американская, in Polish the difference is similar... well in English "woman" and "bird" are sort of synonyms, I wasn't very wrong after all! :P. I don't know how robin redbreast is said in Nahuatl probably something like "eutlocpatl chichiltototl" (European vermilion flycatcher) but I'm guessing, probably there is not a name set for the bird in the language yet. --Piolinfax 07:53, 4 августа 2006 (UTC)
